ABOUT US
Bor Legal Consultancy was founded in October 2018 by Güley Bor, lawyer, researcher, and consultant with a focus on transitional justice, human rights, gender, and sexuality in Iraq and Turkey.
Güley previously supported efforts to collect evidence of the 2014 Yazidi Genocide as Manager of the Genocide Documentation Project of Yazda in Duhok, Kurdistan Region of Iraq as a Harvard Law School Satter Fellow. She was Principal Investigator in the research project ‘Reforming Legal Responses to Conflict-Related Sexual Violence in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region’ conducted under the Conflict Research Programme–Iraq at the LSE Middle East Centre. She also acted as the Principal Investigator in the research project ‘Collective Symbolic Reparations for the Yazidi Genocide’ under the University of Duhok.
As a practitioner, Güley regularly consults with international organizations and local and international NGOs on research design and implementation, training design and delivery, advocacy, and strategic planning. She also supports businesses through equality in the workplace and unconscious bias training and policy reviews as part of her work on diversity and inclusion.
Güley is a researcher with the DEMOS Research Association based in Ankara and co-host of its Turkish-language podcast, DEMOS'tan Sesler. She holds a B.A. in Law from Bilkent University and an LL.M. from Harvard Law School, and is registered to the Istanbul Bar Association and the New York State Bar.
